"Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" is founded on the inspiring true story of alive legend Dolly Parton's remarkable upbringing. This once in a lifetime movie special occurs within the part on family as they fight to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing force of love, faith and a patchwork jacket which helped create. The film is put in 1955 in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains. It is neither a biopic nor a musical about the whole life of Dolly and acting career, but rather a story about the incidents in her and her family's life around the time that she was nine years of age.
