Hearts and Minds
Often times during his presidency, Lyndon B. Johnson reported that eventual success from the Vietnam War depended upon the U.S. military winning the"hearts and minds" of the Vietnamese men and women. Filmmaker Peter Davis uses Johnson's term in a ironic context in this antiwar documentary, filmed and released as the Vietnam War was still under way, juxtaposing interviews using military characters such as U.S. Army Chief of Staff William C. Westmoreland with shocking scenes of violence and brutality.
