Laugh or Die
Parikka, the celebrity called the Funniest Person in Finland, along with his troupe are about to be executed for its atrocities. Jaeger Lieutenant Nyborg, an admirer of both Parikka, supposes that a miscarriage of justice. He wants to spare the actors. The forthcoming visit of the German General von der Goltz to the prison island provides him with the right prospect. Nyborg implies that the celebrities prepare a performance for the visitor and never be shot. They will soon be given a new trial. Preparing a humor in the horrible conditions, in the middle of death and hunger, sounds an overwhelming task. Just a couple of real celebrities are still alive, the rest of the troupe consists of stagehands. Parikka needs to use all of his imaginative skills in order to produce something comical.
